A Tauranga mum is overjoyed to learn that her child and two friends who had been missing for three days turned up at school on Wednesday.
The three teenagers had not been seen since early morning on July 25. Police said earlier they had “concerns” for their safety and were making enquiries as to their whereabouts.
One teenager’s mother received a message about their return and was on her way to the school when she spoke to Stuff. She understood all three teenagers had arrived at their school, Tauranga Girls’ College.
“It’s such a relief. I’m trying hard not to cry. Just feeling such a flood of emotions. We are overjoyed they have come home safely.”
Two of the teens were last seen in Tauranga early in the morning on Monday when they left for school – but did not arrive.
