I got a job in Zurich and we just moved in July here. I work in IT. My fiance moved with me and she is looking for a job. She is a veterinary doctor, and a very good one, she is 40 y.o. with lots of experience including advanced surgery in a pet emergency hospital. She practiced mostly on small animals (cats and dogs) but also reptiles. She got her diploma in Romania which is part of EU. The questions are:

  1. What does she needs to do to get her diploma accepted in Switzerland?

  2. She speaks basic German, for now, what are her chances to get a job as a veterinary here with lots of hands on experience and just basic German (she, of course, is taking classes and she will get better)? My understanding is that Switzerland has a lack of of medics in general, including veterinary. Just for comparison, she got an offer in France where they offered her free French classes just to get her there. But we don’t live in France.

  3. What other chances are for her? We have seen lots of job offers in life science, but these jobs are usually located in Basel and they usually require advanced PhDs which unfortunately she doesn’t have. She has hands on veterinary experience.
