The Lausanne Treaty was a follow up to the Treaty of Sevres in 1920, where the Allies sought to partition Turkey within themselves. However with Mustafa Kemal Attaturk winning the Turkish war of independence, and abolishing the Sultanate, he forced the Allies to negotiate.
