This little piggy won first prize

File under extremely niche: On Sunday, the Otago Cavy Club are holding a Guinea Pig Show at Silverstream School in Mosgiel.

Everyone is welcome, it’s open to both beginner pets and purebreeds and there’s even a fancy dress category. There is a $5 entry fee per guinea pig, and more than 100 prizes up for grabs. Too wholesome for words.

Meet you at the intersection of…

If you haven’t seen Declaration: A Pacific Feminist Agenda at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki yet, this weekend is your last chance. It’s a brilliant, thought-provoking exhibition that draws on the power of matrilineal knowledge, sees artists put their bodies on the line and amplifies voices to reflect an approach to feminism that empowers the agency of all genders.

Head along on Friday night and catch our friend Jess Molina host the incredible Shaneel Lal in a chat titled Intersectional Feminism that spotlights the incredible mahi and many ways in which Lal contributes to creating a safe and equitable world. If you’re feeling inspired after that (and you will!), revisit our Ensemble interview and shoot with Lal from 2020, here.

That looks cool

This weekend, Auckland fashion showroom That Looks presents KAHE, an emerging Melbourne-based label by Kacy Heywood. The New Zealand-born designer has built a trendy following in Melbourne with her elevated, tailored streetwear aesthetic and concept store Error404.

Available here for the first time, Heywood will be in store at 312D Karangahape Road from Friday-Sunday to introduce Aucklanders to KAHE’s latest AW22 collection, which showed at Melbourne Fashion Week earlier this year. Head down on Friday from 4pm – late to play dress ups.

Find your style tribe

Auckland fashion lovers have really been spoilt for choice when it comes to special sales and events of late and this weekend is no different.

This Friday (from 9am-6pm) and Saturday (9am-2pm), local footwear brand La Tribe is holding its first archive sale at Pocket Bar in Grey Lynn. They’re teasing discounted past and present season styles, exclusive samples, seconds and limited edition styles.
