Australian football superstar Sam Kerr has been revealed as one of the cover athletes for the latest iteration of EA Sports’ FIFA franchise.
The sport’s premier video game comes out with a new release every year, and FIFA 23 will feature Kerr alongside Paris St Germain striker Kylian Mbappé.
This is Mbappé’s third straight appearance on the FIFA cover, but Kerr’s first.

The franchise has featured a women’s player on special edition and local covers in the past, including Matildas star Steph Catley, but Kerr’s appearance marks the first time a woman has been included on the primary cover for the game.
It comes after she led Chelsea to the English Super League title and the FA Cup, and leading into a World Cup tilt on home soil with the Matildas next year.
Kerr was also named the English players’ association player of the year and is one of the favourites to win her first Ballon d’Or Féminin.
Kerr was rested from the Matildas’ most recent games against Spain and Portugal.
