Police are searching for two men who allegedly threatened a barista with a weapon at a cafe in Sydney’s inner west.
The 31-year-old woman said the pair approached her from behind as she was opening the business at Stanmore and demanded money at about 7.45am on Saturday.
When the men left the scene, the woman ran upstairs to tell the owners.
It is understood the pair, both described as about 180cm tall and of muscular build, made off with around $1700.
Police are investigating if they were involved in another robbery just hours earlier.
Officers said a 22-year-old woman was standing on Sussex Street in Sydney’s CBD when a Subaru hatch stopped near her just before 4.20am on Saturday.
A man in the passenger seat, who had his face concealed, got out of the car and grabbed the woman’s handbag.
Police said this caused the woman to fall to the ground but she was uninjured in the incident.
The man fled in the vehicle and police were called.
Officers said it is believed the men in the Subaru were also involved in a fail-to-stop crash with another vehicle on George Street in the CBD before the alleged robbery.
