A person has been taken to hospital after they crashed into a fallen tree in the Mackenzie District on Tuesday morning.
Emergency services responded to the crash on State Highway 8/Tekapo-Twizel Rd about 6am.
A police media team spokesperson said police received a report of a crash involving a single vehicle.
“Police, Fire and Ambulance attended and confirmed that several trees have fallen on to the road and a vehicle had collided with one of the trees,” they said.

“The road was closed for a time while emergency services attended.”
One lane has now re-opened under stop-go traffic management while the road is cleared, motorists are advised to expect delays and to avoid travel through the area if possible.
The spokesperson said they can confirm a person was taken to hospital but did not know the condition of the person.
