A person has been seriously injured after two cars collided on State Highway 1 in North Canterbury.
Police responded to the crash at the corner of Main North Rd (SH1) and Waikuku Beach Rd at 6.30pm, a police spokesperson said.
One driver had serious injuries while the other was uninjured, the spokesperson said. There was only one person in each vehicle, they added.
“The road was initially closed and diversions were put in place,” the spokesperson said.
The road reopened about 8pm.
