A person is in critical condition after an assault at a Christchurch bar in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A police spokesperson said they were called to a bar on Hereford Street after a person had reportedly been assaulted at 1am on Sunday morning.
The offender had fled the scene by the time the police had arrived and was unable to be located.
The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition and enquiries into the incident are ongoing, the spokesperson said.
