NZ Post had over 240 items that were addressed to North Shore Hospital stolen on July 8.

New Zealand Post says it is a victim of mail theft, with 240 items in transit to North Shore Hospital stolen earlier this month.

“NZ Post is very disappointed to have been a victim of a recent theft,” a spokesperson said.

“The stolen mail – approximately 240 items – was in transit and taken on Friday 8 July from a site located on the North Shore in Auckland.”

NZ Post said the mail was addressed to North Shore Hospital, and the company was “working with Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand Waitematā to communicate with potentially impacted patients”.

“Patients who sent correspondence by mail to North Shore Hospital in the lead-up to 8 July and who have not received an acknowledgment are asked to contact the North Shore Hospital switchboard on 09 486 8900 if they have any concerns,” the NZ Post spokesperson said.

“The police are currently following positive lines of inquiry and we are also carrying out our own investigation.”

NZ Post has apologised to the Kiwis who may be impacted by the theft, “for any inconvenience or concern this theft has caused”.
