Jockey Michael Walker has ridden 25 Gr 1 winners in an illustrious career on both sides of the Tasman and in Asia.
Top New Zealand jockey Michael Walker is reported to be in intensive care after a fall in Australia on Tuesday morning.
Walker, who was raised in Waitara, Taranaki, was airlifted after the fall at Pakenham jumpouts in Victoria.
His manager, Liam Prior, told News Corp that Walker was placed in an induced coma to stabilise him following the accident, Racenet reported.
Scans at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne cleared Walker of internal injuries, The Victorian Jockeys’ Association confirmed.
The VJA reported Walker was in intensive care with concussion.
Walker was New Zealand’s champion apprentice before going on to win multiple group one races.
