Colleges in both Palmerston North and Levin have reportedly received threatening phone calls on Thursday.
A Palmerston North school has been evacuated after a bomb threat as a number of schools across the country have received threats.
Awatapu College in Palmerston North was evacuated on Thursday morning after receiving a bomb threat.
Principal Gary Yeatman said Awatapu was one of a number of schools across the country and police believed the risk was very low.
He said in abundance of caution they had evacuated the school. Awatapu was due to finish at 2.10pm on Thursday so students had been sent home early.

Police said in a statement they had received a number of phone threats to school across the country and officers were investigating threats at schools in Masterton, Kaikoura, Greymouth, Queenstown, Levin, Whanganui, Rolleston, Takaka, Geraldine, Dunstan, Ashburton and Palmerston North.
“Police take threats of this nature extremely seriously and is making enquiries to determine the source of the calls,” the statement said.
Police did not think there was a safety risk.
The calls come days after five North Island schools in Waikato, Thames, and Gisborne received bomb threats on Tuesday.
