Lewis Clareburt captured his second gold medal of the Commonwealth Games on Monday (NZ time).

In a golden session for Kiwi swimmers, Joshua Willmer pipped Australia’s Tim Hodge at the finish line in the men’s 100m breaststroke SB8 final to capture gold.

Willmer won in a time of 1.14.12 with fellow Kiwi Jesse Reynolds placing fourth.

“I didn’t think this would happen tonight. I knew after the heat I had a little bit to give in that last 50,” Clareburt said.

“I wasn’t even entered in it. I just asked to be in it and they said yes.”

Clareburt also won gold on Sunday morning (NZT) with a comprehensive victory in the 400m Individual Medley.

Four years ago on the Gold Coast, Clareburt placed seventh in the 200m butterfly final with le Clos taking gold in a Games record time of 1.54.00.

Just a matter of minutes after Clareburt nabbed gold, New Zealand collected another medal with Tupou Neiufi taking silver in the women’s 100m backstroke S8 final.

Neiufi finished four seconds behind English winner Alice Tai in 1.17.91.
