Joelle King was beaten by Sarah-Jane Perry in the squash women’s singles bronze medal match.
Joelle King let a two-game lead slip in losing her Commonwealth Games bronze medal squash singles match against Sarah-Jane Perry of England.
She was up 8-4 in the third game – three points away from winning in consecutive games – then lost seven straight points.
In the fourth, Perry won comfortably, but the fifth game turned out to be an epic.
It ultimately went to a tie-break, with Perry eventually prevailing 14-12 over King, who defeated her in the singles gold medal match on the Gold Coast four years ago.
King twice had game ball in the tie-break, but couldn’t convert, and after letting a game ball slip herself, Perry was able to claim the bronze medal, buoyed on by the support of the home crowd.
