‘I love you deep’ – Beyonce’s message to fans who shun album leak – صحيفة الصوت

She might not have “wanted this power”, but when fans avoid downloading a leaked version of her long awaited seventh studio album, Renaissance, it proves Beyoncé’s got it.

A version of the follow-up to her groundbreaking 2016 album Lemonade appeared online just 36 hours before the planned launch at midnight on July 29. Many of Beyoncé fans were quick to condemn the leak and called for others to refuse to listen until the official launch.

That respect did not go unnoticed by Queen Bey, who posted a thank you to fans on Friday.

Beyonce has thanked fans for not downloading her album before the launch date.

“You all actually waited until the proper release time, so you all can enjoy it together,” the Alien Superstar singer said in a post to Instagram. “I’ve never seen anything like it. I can’t thank y’all enough for your love and protection.”

She went on to say she was glad no one tried to “sneak into the club early” and that it meant fans would get to enjoy the music together, as it was meant to be enjoyed.

The message, handwritten in white ink on a black background, was accompanied by a picture of Beyonce in full 70s-inspired Glamazon-style, wearing a silver lurex gown, seated under a giant disco glitter ball – a reference to one of the album’s key influences, 70s disco icon Donna Summer.

Renaissance is the first new music from Beyonce since her 2019 soundtrack to The Lion King 2019, and her live album Homecoming, and the first solo music the star has released since 2016’s Lemonade.

According to The Daily Mail, songs on the album may allude to key events in the singer’s private life, including her relationship with husband, rapper Jay Z.

The album cover of Renaissance has been linked to images of Lady Godiva.

The album cover of Renaissance has been linked to images of Lady Godiva.

For example, in the song plastic On The Sofa, she sings that she and her husband, rapper Jay Z, “don’t need the world’s acceptance”.

“They’re too hard on me, they’re too hard on you, boy.”

Images on the cover of the album have been linked to the mediaeval legend of Lady Godiva, who rode naked through the streets of Coventry as protest against taxation on the poor.

The term “peeping Tom” comes from this story, as the legend says people refused to watch her out of respect, all except “Tom”, who peeped and was struck dumb and blind by her beauty.

In the liner notes to the album, Beyonce thanks Jay Z, who she describes as her muse, as well as their children.

”I want to give a special thank you to Rumi, Sir and Blue, for allowing me the space, creativity, and inspiration,” she writes.

Renaissance is a “three act” piece, with the album released on July 29 act 1. The acts were recorded “over three years of the pandemic”.

“A time to be still, but also a time to be the most creative,” Beyonce wrote.

It’s not clear when the next two acts will drop, but it’s safe to say, fans will not be listening to leaked versions until they do. Renaissance is available to stream on Spotify now.
