Drone footage shared by the Israel Parks and Nature Authority has captured an enormous swarm of jellyfish surrounding a boat off the country’s north.
The video zooms out to reveal hundreds of thousands of jellyfish, floating off the coast of Haifa, northern Israel.
The animals are thought to have come from the Indian Ocean, moving through the Suez Canal.
Swarms of jellyfish, known as smacks, are attracted to warm waters and migrate through summer months close to the shores of the Mediterranean.
Experts predict jellyfish are increasing in numbers due to warming oceans and an increase in pollution and nutrients caused by human waste.
