What not to miss is difficult to say for me. 🙂
But as an idea: Basel always holds its fireworks the evening before (July 31st). The crowds on the Rhine bridges are usually cheerful. It’s not THAT special event you must see, but it’s a great opportunity to celebrate twice: July 31st in Basel and August 1st in another city of your choice.
