Daniel Ricciardo heads to France after confirming future with McLaren – صحيفة الصوت

Daniel Ricciardo is coming off one of his best results this season, but he is still under pressure as Formula 1 heads into a double-header starting this weekend.

The Australian finished ninth last time out in Austria, just the third time this season the McLaren driver was able to finish in the points.

It has been a trying season for the eight-time race winner, who has found his second season with the famed British team a struggle as he lags behind his teammate Lando Norris.

Speculation about his future has been swirling in F1 circles, with Ricciardo taking to social media to hose down suggestions he could walk away from the sport.

“I’m committed to McLaren until the end of next year and am not walking away from the sport,” he wrote.

“Appreciate it hasn’t always been easy, but who wants easy?!

“I’m working my ass off with the team to make improvements and get the car right and back to the front where it belongs.

“I still want this more than ever.”

F1 heads to France for back-to-back race weekends before the sport takes a month-long break.

The second race of the double-header will be in Hungary.

Ricciardo had a solid outing in France in 2021 finishing sixth, with Norris in fifth making it a successful day for McLaren.

Heading to Le Castellet for round 12 of the championship, Ricciardo said building on his points-finish last time out was important with the mid-year break approaching.

“Small margins make a big difference and at this stage of the season it’s important we remain consistent with positive results,” he said.

“I was pleased to be back in the points in Austria and we’ll continue to work hard to build momentum with more points in France before heading to Hungary in the double-header.”
